Non conventional cancer treatment
Alternative medicine is treatments that are used instead of standard medical treatments. Some alternative therapists may claim that they can cure your cancer with their treatments, even if conventional medical treatments can’t cure you. But there is no scientific evidence that alternative therapies can help to treat people with cancer.Very little research has been done on alternative therapies and there is not enough scientific evidence to prove whether they are any help at all. Even though some have been tested and shown not to work, these claims of cure are still made.
Chelation therapy is used as treatment of heavy metal poisoning such as mercury, arsenic, and lead among other conditions. Chelating agents convert these metal ions into a chemically and biochemically inert form that can be excreted. Some doctors are concerned about the safety of chelation therapy as a treatment.
Laetrile-is a man made form of Amygdalin. Amygdalin is a plant substance found in the pits of some fruits such as apricots, raw nuts, Lima beans, clover .It makes hydrogen cyanide which is changed into cyanide when taken into the body. Hydrogen cyanide is thought to kill cancer cells. Laetrile is also called Vitamin B-17, it has not been approved as a vitamin by the American Institute of Nutrition Vitamins.Laetrile is commonly given intravenously at first, then orally as maintenance therapy (treatment given to help extend the benefit of previous therapy).Laetrile treatments are given in Mexico and some U.S. clinics. Sometimes laetrile is given in combination with a metabolic therapy program (special diet, high-dose vitamins, and pancreatic enzymes).Laetrile has shown little anticancer effect in clinical studies.Laetrile is not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
Sono-Photo Dynamic Therapy– Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a treatment that uses a drug, called a photosensitizer or photosensitizing agent, and a particular type of light. When photosensitizers are exposed to a specific wavelength of light, they produce a form of oxygen that kills nearby cells.
Each photosensitizer is activated by light of a specific wavelength (3, 4). This wavelength determines how far the light can travel into the body . Thus, doctors use specific photosensitizers and wavelengths of light to treat different areas of the body with PDT.
light therapies-or phototherapy, classically referred to as heliotherapy—consists of exposure to daylight or to specific wavelengths of light using polychromatic polarised light, lasers, light-emitting diodes, fluorescent lamps, dichroic lamps or very bright, full-spectrum light. The light is administered for a prescribed amount of time and, in some cases, at a specific time of day.One common use of the term is associated with the treatment of skin disorders, chiefly psoriasis, acne vulgaris, eczema and neonatal jaundice.
nutritional therapy – is used to help cancer patients keep a healthy body weight, maintain strength, keep body tissue healthy, and decrease side effects both during and after treatment.
high dose vitamins and dietary supplements. According to webmd.com Cancer patients are increasingly turning to supplements to strengthen their immune systems and ease nausea from chemotherapy. Vitamin A , vitamin C, vitamin E , and beta-carotene contain antioxidants once thought to help prevent cancer. However, more recent studies show that high levels of these, in supplement form, may increase cases of gastrointestinal cancers, such as stomach, colon, and esophageal, in some populations. However, eating foods that contain these vitamins reduces the risk of many kinds of cancer.
metabolic therapy –evidence shows conditions such as Alzheimer’s and cancer are metabolic diseases, which means you can prevent, treat and recover from them like other metabolic conditions, such as Type 2 diabetes and heart disease. But there is no evidence that any type of metabolic therapy or alternative diet can prevent, treat or control cancer. This can be a serious risk to your health if you are already weakened by cancer or by treatments such as chemotherapy,
oxygen therapies–Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is also used to treat carbon monoxide poisoning and deep infections or to help wounds heal. Lots of research has been conducted on hyperbaric oxygen’s use as a cancer treatment, often with mixed or inconclusive results.
hydrotherapy–formerly called hydropathy and also called water cure, is a part of alternative medicine (particularly naturopathy), occupational therapy, and physiotherapy, that involves the use of water for pain relief and treatment
